About Ellis Hospital Mental Health Services
Ellis Hospital Mental Health Services is one of the medical specialists listed in Schenectady, New York. The business is registered at 1023 State St, Schenectady, NY 12307; use this page to check its hours, phone number and Google rating before you make the trip.
In Schenectady, urgent care centers are busiest on weekends and evenings when doctors' offices are closed, and most post their wait times online. Across New York, primary care practices often have a waitlist for new patients, so establishing care before you need it saves time. For a dental emergency outside office hours, an urgent care center can prescribe antibiotics and pain relief but cannot fix the tooth; a hospital emergency room can treat swelling that affects breathing or swallowing. Check the listing for insurance, hours and whether telehealth visits are offered.
The business lists hours on 5 days of the week. On most of those days it is open 8 amβ6 pm. It is closed on Saturday, Sunday. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (518) 243-3300. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, ellismedicine.org.
Its Google rating stands at 2.5 out of 5 from 35 reviews, which is below average for the category; consider the recent reviews carefully before visiting.
Schenectady is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Schenectady is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Would give negative stars if possible. Horrible and disgusting service. Refusing to supply medication for days causing horrible withdrawals and refusing to refill prescription. The person who we need to call to get them is never available and the emergency hotline was closed. Absolutely ridiculous and pathetic place, they need to get their act together if they actually want to help people.

Been going here since 2016 my mom went there too. Never have I had a disrespectful worker there, they treat you with kindness with in reason. My therapists are always and still go out of their way to help me in most facets of my life, their jobs is to help you with your mental illness not to find jobs or to do the work for you. And in that respect sometimes they go above and beyond. I had one bad experience with a newer therapist but they asked me if I wanted a new one and they gave them to me Iβve had two others and they are the best. Even my doctor from there is awesome. They even let me change my psychiatrist. So in my experience this place with all its programs is one of the best. And I still go there and will continue. If there are any problems you caused them yourselfβ¦.

If you get a receptionist let alone a doctor that can't comprehend your issues and get you help immediately, you're screwed. It's all up to you to manage whatever discomfort you're in. They are overbooked and some are apathetic to your issues. I really hope I can calm down eventually because I'm livid which isn't helping my current problems. A complete joke.

Worst clinic I've ever been too. Counselors are disrespectful and talk to you like you're a moron. I actually went to the head of the mental health department to switch therapists. She also spoke to me like I was mentally retired! She did not give me a new therapist. I said to one not to speak to me like that! He said he wasn't used to having any intelligent conversations with the patients! Then he continued to speak to me that way! I wanted to tell him don't you understand I see through your BS! Anyway, I decided to just HUMOR him! I tried to get him to help me get some training in my choice of career. He not only didn't help me, but at the same time he was constantly threatening to cut off my SSI! He didn't want me to be independent. I felt trapped! The small amount of trust I had with mental health professionals was destroyed by this counselor. Also they're only interested in their agenda. One of them would ask what I wanted to talk about then he would reroute the conversation to what he wanted to talk about. I walked out and never went back. I found out he got fired. I guess he was less of a "money maker" and more of a liability to Ellis. Also, I was actually

After being referred here from inpatient at 4 winds for medication management & counseling, I was railroaded into either giving up my outpatient ptsd specialists, which I need for my recovery & wellbeing, or being ousted from the program. I refused to give in to their unreasonable & frankly unethical & perhaps even illegal demands and I was promptly & unceremoniously dropped from treatment with no med refills or provider and 0 referrals. I believe I was retaliated against for filing complaints from this ill treatment & then medically abandoned with no recourse. Something is very wrong behind the scenes at this location. I have filed several reports regarding this disgusting miscarriage of justice and possible medical malpractice & abandonment. Repulsive. At the very least, unethical. 18 times this post has been upvoted. As I feared, this implies the shrew on a power trip in charge of this clinic is doing this on a systemic scale. What about the other patients who won't or can't speak up? Meanwhile the state of NY does nothing about this. Maybe it's time to phone the press.

Iβve been going here since my suicide attempt in May of 2017 and I honestly couldnβt be happier with the doctors I have. Iβd never been able to find a therapist I clicked with until I got here (Miklos). I will admit that I endured a couple years of suffering under the spacey and aggressive rule of Dr Mittol, who used the threat of withholding refills to force me into bending to his arbitrary rules, but I was able to switch to a better psychiatrist, and once that one retired I was sent to an even better one (Dr Mantas) who I am so pleased with. Iβve even started seeing the primary care here (Dr Ferro) so I have all my needs available in one building, and I have to say he too is probably the most personable and attentive PCP Iβve ever had. Itβs always clean and everyone has always been pleasant. Very little funding and care is allocated to health care in this awful country, in general, so this is of course going to be especially true for mental health services, which arenβt taken as seriously by really anyone. It is because of this national systemic problem that I think someone may have struggles getting an appointment or finding the doctor who is right for them. The benefits of t

Don't expect help from these people. I've been a patient for 5 years and stressed to my doctor the medication was not working and he basically told me that I would never be cured with medication that only counciling will help witch when you can't even bring your self to get out of bed, shower or brush your hair how do they expect you to get out of bed for an appointment. It got so sever from not properly being treated I'm almost completely bold from having to pull my hair out trying to brush it and save what I could. It took me and a friend 4 whole days being persistent to try to save some of my hair to get it unmatted. On top of the stress of all that in 5 years of attending I've had 2 issues with appointments and not being able to make it due to my mental health and it being so bad I faced losing my kids so what did they do discharge me in the time I most needed the help. There heartless and I understand there's people waiting but focus on the patients you have already your not helping, before worrying about getting new. How do you expect a female patient to open up to a male doctor anyways with such personal issues, he can't possible understand how it feels as a female because h

I've attended this clinic for almost 10 years now. The receptionists can get busy sometimes (I think they could use more than two on duty) but the clinicians are always kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. They've helped me coordinate things like insurance issues & transportation to appointments, and it never takes more than 24 business hours to get a return phone call from them.
